Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Performance Framework 2005

The health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians is well documented with a life expectancy of around 17 years less than non-Indigenous Australians and death rates two to four times higher. While significant improvements have been made in the health status of non-Indigenous Australians, the level of disadvantage for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people remains alarming and in marked contrast to other comparable countries.
